How Do Employers Moniter Internet Usage at Work Essay Example

How Do Employers Moniter Internet Usage at Work Essay Example How Do Employers Moniter Internet Usage at Work Paper How Do Employers Moniter Internet Usage at Work Paper APBT 3312. 80 INTERNET WEB SEARCH ARTICLE #1 HOW DO EMPLOYERS MONITOR INTERNET USAGE AT WORK? This article informs us the readers on how and what forms an employer can monitor our internet usage while at work. The main reason that we see this at work is due to our advance technology at the work place. Almost all companies have access to the internet at work which entices the workers to go to websites that are not work related. This article does not debate whether it is legal or illegal. It provides information on the two basic types that employers use to monitor, internet and desktop surveillance. This article explains that they use spyware like hackers do to monitor an employee’s internet usage, website visits, emails sent, information on emails, and streaming videos. This information provides specific work or unrelated work this employee is conducting to include the time spent. While conducting desktop surveillance it does all of the aforementioned to include offline activity. All systems are connected to the administrator’s computer and he can actually connect via remote and monitor while you are in front without knowing. I believe this article was mediocre in all. It did provide information that I was not aware like the two basic ways employers monitor. I feel they could have gone more in depth in this area. I know this article was not mean to debate whether it was legal or illegal but does cover the basic legal rights the employer and employee have. REFERENCE J. Bean (2010). Discrepancy vs. Disparity

Discrepancy vs. Disparity Discrepancy vs. Disparity Discrepancy vs. Disparity By Mark Nichol What’s the difference between discrepancy and disparity and other similar words beginning with the prefix dis-? The meanings are often the same or closely related, but some distinctions apply: Discrepancy, the noun form of the rarely used adjective discrepant, stems from the Latin term discrepare, which means â€Å"to sound discordantly.† A discrepancy is a variance from or disagreement with something, as in the discrepancy between inventory figures and actual stock, or between a statement on a certain issue and a record of a previous comment about the same topic. Disparity is a noun form of the adjective disparate. (Disparateness is its more unwieldy synonym.) The root of these words is the Latin term parare, which means â€Å"to prepare.† Although disparate means â€Å"different† or â€Å"distinct,† disparity has a more precise connotation, one of inequality. Meanwhile, a dissimilarity or dissimilitude (the root of these terms is the Latin word similis, the basis of same, similar, simulate, and resemblance) is a lack, respectively, of commonality and resemblance. Distinctness and distinctiveness (both, like distinguish, from the Latin word distinguere, meaning â€Å"to separate, to prick apart†) have similar rather than distinct meanings: Distinctness refers to notability, an unmistakable quality or phenomenon, or a separateness; distinctiveness, meanwhile, also refers to a markedly singular trait but may alternatively apply to a stylishness or other state that sets something apart. In an bygone era of unregulated spelling, discreet and discrete were originally alternate spellings for the word meaning â€Å"separate, distinct,† but the former form eventually took on a specialized sense, one of â€Å"careful, prudent.† The latter form is often erroneously used in place of the well-established variant spelling for that meaning. The responsibility of HR management must be given to the line managers as they are aware of the condition at grass root levels. They are also responsible for executing the main objectives of an organization. I elected this course as I have always been interested in human behavior. Meeting new people and trying to understand them has always excited me. Now I am keener to make it my profession and I want to formally study and understand human resource management. I expect to learn from this course, how the human resource of an organization can be managed effectively to gain a competitive edge. Also, I would want to learn how to interact with the employees in an organization and more importantly how to motivate them to work at their full potential. The most important thing that I have learnt about human resource management in the past is that, it is not just important to recognize and reward good work (bad work) but also it is equally important to communicate why it is good (or

Achilles Anophtheis (achilles Revisited) :: essays research papers

The director walked onto the stage, gingerly adjusting his radiation mask in order to fit the microphone beneath it. His nervous cough boomed through the hall. After shuffling the papers on the podium before him, he began."Welcome ladies and gentlemen of the Pre-Apocalypse Archaeological Society. We have called this session to impart to you a matter of the utmost importance, a discovery of the highest order. As you are aware, our teams have only recently been able to sift through the debris of the razed cities of our belligerent predecessors, thanks to the efforts of our colleagues at the Physical Research Society who, with the aid of Allah, have made our task infinitely easier with the invention of a radiation suit which allows our field workers to work even in areas of the highest radiation concentration: the cities of what was formerly the United States of America. The discoveries are literally pouring in, and we have our hands full simply cataloguing the numerous finds. Our first find was a small rectangular object, containing a spool of thin ribbon, which one of our historians identified as what was known as a cassette. Simply put, it was a device on which sounds could be recorded. From its small size, our historian conjectured that it was of a type designed for recording the human voice rather than music. Armed with this belief, we managed to convince the Censor Society to allow us to reconstruct the primitive machine to play back the message we hoped it would contain. They agreed; on the condition that we did not do so until they had a chance to screen it for the negative influences that caused the downfall of the last corrupt civilization. They duly approved it and we are now ready for its first public presentation."Before we begin, I would like to explain some of the terms used in the recording, for those of you who lack the benefit of an historical training. The tape is evidently the recording of a psychologist. You are all aware that the sacrilege which led to the destruction of the Nuclear Age was primarily caused by the decline in religious belief and values. A psychologist was the person who supplanted the role of the confessor in this blasphemous time. He labored under the delusion that the immortal soul was accessible on a scientific, human level; and, like most of the scientists of the day, impiously discounted Allah as an unnecessary complication.

Global Limited System Essay

Global Limited is a global provider of infrastructure information systems, whose services cater to a wide range of industry sectors. One of Global Limited’s business objectives is information security for their clients. In order to provide their clients with information security, Global Limited has utilized a risk management approach to protect their client’s information. From a security standpoint the step taken by Global Limited are sound and will maximize the security of their client’s information. The main weakness as such will remain at the user level. If the end users both internal and external are not security conscious and vigilant in their security awareness then there is a risk of a vulnerability being exploited. The access controls Global Limited implemented using access tokens and PIN numbers for authentication provides a level of security to protect unauthorized access to data and systems. The additional use of the Data Loss Prevention (DLP) product to manage data across the network is integral to compliance of the CIA triad. Global Limited’s approach of layered security from end- point to end user utilized several different methods of controls thus providing their clients with a single comprehensive strategy. Although there is no real way to have complete security against all threats, Global Limited has provided their clients with a secure solution without being so intrusive that the end users cannot do their jobs. If a company or organization’s data and systems are not secure, be it from lack of proper controls or improper physical security, then they would be out of compliance with industry standards. According to the SOX act a company is supposed to have internal controls in place to prevent and detect unauthorized access of financial data. Global’s risk management approach was a key factor in the success of their efforts to protecting their cl ient’s information assets. By utilizing risk management strategies Global was able to detect vulnerabilities where there were the  most likelihood of threat and implement controls to detect and/or prevent breaches of the security controls. The risk management process ensured Global addressed security measures at all levels of the IT/domain. Having remote external access to Global’s network poses many threats. Lack of physical controls over devices could result in breaches. If a person lost a laptop that ad sensitive data or kept their login credentials stored on their phones, an unauthorized person could gain access. If data is not properly classified and protected it could be compromised through VPN. Some other tools that are comparable to those used by Global are Biometrics and cryptographic keys used for authentication. Titan CMS is similar to Global’s DLP suite in that it classifies, monitors and secures data across a network. Clone Guard provides vulnerability scanning, intrusion detection, and penetration testing to test an organizations defensive countermeasures and identify threats. India is a country of festivals Essay

India: A Land Of Festivals INDIA, the world’s second largest country, has over 1 billion inhabitants, who speak 18 major languages and more than 1,000 minor languages and dialects. It features an infinite variety of landscapes and unsurpassed cultural richness. With so much diversity embedded within one culture, it is easy to understand why India is called â€Å"a land of festival and fairs.† Every day of the year there is a festival celebrated in some part of the country. As in any old civilization, most of these festivals have religious ties. Because India is still a predominantly rural nation, many of its festivals also welcome the coming of natural phenomena like the seasons of the year, the harvest, the rains, or the full moon. Thus, festivals often commemorate the sacred bond felt by the Indian villagers to their land. Nevertheless, there are those festivals, such as karwa chauth, practiced with great austerity by women of the Hindu faith in devotion to their husbands, which are not festivals as such, though there may be something of a festive air attached to these occasions. English: Diwali Chakra in Displaly English: Radha celebrating Holi, c1788. (digitally†¦ Holi Some festivals are observed throughout the country, or in a greater part of it; others, such as the famed snake race of Kerala, have peculiarly regional associations. Yet others, most notably Diwali and Holi, have been instrumental in bringing the diaspora of Indian communities back together. In remote places like Fiji, Mauritius, Trinidad, Jamaica, and Guyana, these festivals are celebrated with a pomp and vigor not always witnessed in India itself, indicating the intensity of India culture even after it travels away from the subcontinent. Among the most popular of all festivals, Dussehra symbolizes the triumph of good over evil. It takes place sometime between late September and early October. Every region observes this ten-day festival in a special way.

Biology Essay Essays

Biology Essay Essays Biology Essay Paper Biology Essay Paper In the biological perspective, scientist often view the nervous system to be the most complex and significant body system in the human anatomy basically because of its function for the body and its processes. Indeed, sustaining damages to the nervous system has dangerous consequences for the body including seizures, paralysis, and comatose and even death. In this aspect, this paper aim to discuss and critical elaborate the scientific facts about the human nervous system and its anatomy. The human brain is basically part of the nervous system of the human anatomy as its controls, regulates and maintains the nervous functions and processes of the human body. Biologically, the brain is a complex concentration of nerve cells and fibers that is able to process and formulate significant number of nerve activities characterized by electrical impulses. The brain’s anatomy is basically divided into three regions classified to its characteristics and functions namely the cerebrum, cerebellum, and the brain stem. The cerebrum handles all of the distinctly human activities such as speaking, reading, writing and others while the cerebellum handles the aspects of balance and body and muscle coordination. On the other hand, the brain stem serves as the communication port for the brain and the spinal cord as it contains billions of control points for nerve impulses. The nervous system is also composed of numerous nerve cells which are characterized and classified according to their functions namely the sensory or afferent and the motor or efferent. The sensory nerve cells are the medium for inward-traveling impulses wherein they transmit information from the senses to the brain. On the other hand, the motor nerve cells relay informations from the brain to the affected muscle regions for the appropriate body reaction to the impulse. Between the brain and the nerve cells, the spinal cord acts as the expressway for the transmissions and relays of impulses and their respective nervous reactions. Anatomically, the brain connects the brain to the collective nerve cells of the human body as it stretches to the back of the body. This serves as the master nerve tract and consists of millions of nerve fibers bundled together, somewhat like many small threads making up a large rope partially interwoven in the backbone for support.

Why Sex With Boss Is a Bad Idea for Your Career

Why Sex With Boss Is a Bad Idea for Your Career He may be attractive and give you all the right signals, but having sex with the boss is a bad idea and a potential career killer. Youre not living in isolation with him on a desert island, but sharing a workplace where your illicit relationship affects everyone. Many companies have clear policies on office dating and while relationships between co-workers have become commonplace, an employees affair with the boss still continues to be frowned upon. Even if it turns into something serious and long-lasting, chances are one of you will have to go. Power Playmate Look beyond the physical act of sex with your boss and youll see that power is at the heart of the relationship. Writing for the Times Online, Susie Godson sums it up as a power trip and a huge ego boost and adds, Peel away the perks and what exactly are you left with? The inequity of power, desire to associate with power or attain more power all factor into the situation. Theres also the power that comes from flying in the face of convention and sampling forbidden fruit. Stop and ask yourself: If he wasnt your boss, would you still be attracted to him? Are the excitement and passion based on the fact that although he has control over your life and career, you feel like you have control over him? Do you think that if you sleep with him, hell fast-track you to the top or at least promote you or give you a raise? Or do you just like the buzz that follows you around the workplace because co-workers sense that theres something more to your relationship than supervisor and subordinate? Sex as a Skill Set Sex clouds everyones judgment. You may have been hired because of your skills, your experience, your talent, drive, and enthusiasm. But when youre involved with the boss, you may find your competence in question. Opportunities that come your way, successes you achieve, goals you meet and exceed all may be perceived as arising out of your special relationship with the boss and not your own hard work. You may not get credit where credit is due. And if you end up working for someone else in the same company, that person may be reluctant to believe that youve gotten to where you are based on merit alone. Youll have that relationship with your ex-boss hanging over your head, and it may stunt your career advancement under future supervisors. Some Girl or Another The odds are against an enduring relationship. And when it falls apart, it probably wont wrap itself up with all loose ends tucked in neatly and both parties acting like adults. If the two of you remain in the same workplace and hes still your boss, therell be jealousy on one end or the other, and its going to affect your professional relationship and judgment. He may stall your career out of spite, revenge, or simply because he can, or behave in ways that make it difficult to continue to work for him. Or you may have to sit back, bite your tongue, and watch him launch another steamy affair with someone new under him (in more ways than one.) Because heres the painful truth: many bosses who sleep with their employees dont do it just once. Theyre serial subordinate seducers. As much as youd like to think that youre special the irresistible one he broke all the rules for- its probably not that way. As journalist Dominique Jackson observed in her article An Affair to Forget in Marie Claire, she found out she wasnt the only one to fall for her sexy, dazzling boss when she had dinner with a colleague of his: Great guy. Excellent writer. Underrated, too, said my companion. Trouble is, he always has some girl or other in tow. Usually one of the junior journalists or a secretary. I really dont know how his wife puts up with it. No Employees With Benefits From a purely business standpoint, the relationship is a no-win situation for the company you work for, even if you end up together. Human resources professional Laurie Ruettimann, the founder of Punk Rock HR, says that companies frame the issue of dating under Code of Conduct policies: As an employee, you are not allowed to personally benefit from your role at the office at the expense of the organization. Therefore, you are not allowed to sleep with a subordinate and continue supervising his/her work. Additionally, most companies will not allow you to supervise your family members. The way a friend with benefits is a tricky relationship to manage, an employee with benefits is a liability to the boss who has exceeded the bounds of appropriate behavior and has opened himself up to charges of sexual harassment, even if the sex was consensual. So sex with the boss jeopardizes his position as well as yours. But just suppose its the real thing? After all, according to the Times Online, four out of every ten people meet their spouses at the office. Lets say hes the one. Even if your wildest fantasies come true and you two get married, he cannot continue to supervise you. Someones going to have to leave, and its probably not going to be the boss. Think Before You Act Keep in mind that sex with the boss may poison any other potential future relationships with your co-workers. And since work continues to be the main way in which we meet, socialize with, and get to know people, that would shut the door to many opportunities, both platonic and romantic. As Ruettiman points out, I met my husband at work and weve been together for over a decade. My career wasnt impacted because I am not a drama queen. I used common sense and kept my private dalliances out of my professional role. And finally, for those who say that its sexist to assume the boss is male (since over 36 percent of managers and supervisors are female) and want to view this issue from the perspective of a boss whos female, the truth is theres little difference. The same rules apply. The best advice for any boss, female or male, comes from Marty Nemko in his tips for workplace dating in U.S. News World Report: Think twice about a relationship with your supervisor...Think 10 times before getting involved with a subordinate.

An Analysis of the History and Development of Hip Hop Dancing (from Research Paper

An Analysis of the History and Development of Hip Hop Dancing (from late 1960's-1970s) - Research Paper Example The dances majorly consisted of the break dance, rapping and funk styles including locking and popping. It was initiated by African Americans. In fact, the word â€Å"hip† was used by the African Americans way before the evolution of the music and dance. It was performed along the streets, and there were well known promoters of the dance. In giving the whole picture a better view, it involved a lot of creativity that was accompanied by listening to the hip hop music. The manner in which it was carried out in most cases involved getting serious about the dancing which was rather hard to do. At the end of sufficient training, one got ready to enter the circle of performance and do lots of footwork including creating witty things and returning to the outside of the circle. This research also brings it clearly that the development of this dance was in an underground form that had lots of social significance. It, however, was not much appreciated by the outsiders until the media br ought it to the surface. In facilitating this, there was a need for other elements such as mcing, djing driven by the urban culture. Brake dancing was the most known aspect of the dance and was known as b-boying. Introduction Hip hop dance appeared in the United States. It was majorly done by the black Americans and some Latin Americans. It is a fact that the dance was not highly recognized by most people until the media machinery started highlighting it. Among these dances, there was the locking which was begun back in the 1970s. This was associated by Don Campbellock from Los Angels. He attempted to perform and learn how to dance in parties and more specifically, he did the â€Å"funky chicken† at this point in time. B-boying dance was another dancing style of hip hop that featured in these times. More precisely, it took place in 1972 in block parties. There was also the up rocking in the New York streets in the 1960s. This was followed by top rocking. Another style that re quired lots of techniques was the ground rocking. There was no basic training on the dance during these times, but individuals who had instincts for natural movement brought it to the streets. Break dancing was also well known among the dancers who performed it. A majority of the promoters of the dance was known, and most of them were good at the performance. In the early times, that is, 1960s to 1970s, the dance there were competitions held mostly along the streets. Many dances established their names as some of the most well known hip hop dancers across east cost and west cost. Movies that highlighted these dancing styles also promoted the dance and new moves. Theoretical perspective It is assumed that hip-hop is an African dance that developed in the States. This, however, is a misconception baring the fact that its origin also encompasses of Latina Americans. It may also be thought that the dancing style is only associated with the young generation and that it must have begun in the recent past. This research finding nullifies this thinking and gives a clear understanding of the places and year of origin of it. The publication sectors play a big role in ensuring the appreciation of any innovations in the music industry at large. Dance is the most benefited art in this field, especially in the audiovisual means of publication. Hop has always been associated with the ghettos in the United States; this is not a misdirected understanding as its origin, on a wide view, lies there. There are common figures that were associated with t

Women Management Issues in Fisheries Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Women Management Issues in Fisheries - Essay Example Related to these initiatives, a significant up-and-coming research focus is the ways that fishers' (and other usual resource users) information is created and how it expand in a society. Another up-and-coming area of attention involves questions that center on how protection and management practices expand in a society (see the other aid to this issue). This research highlights these issues in the context of the women management fisheries of the Canadian region of Newfoundland plus Labrador. Furthermore, these fisheries, by means of dynamic, global, profitable histories stretching back over 500 years, are considerably dissimilar from numerous of the fisheries that have been the focus of research about resource users' local or customary ecological information. While studying facts production and modify in these fisheries provides an chance to discover local knowledge creation and growth and their affiliation to conservation and management where fishing as a livelihood is strongly woven into the social, educational, and financial fabric of the community, yet where varied fisheries have become ever more market-driven, technically intense, methodically managed,' capital rigorous, and are operating in the context of thespian and rapid ecological transform (Grafton, R. Q. 2003). The principal goal of this research here, though, is to highlight the difficulty and vitality of the socio environmental network in which the fishers of Newfoundland plus Labrador today are embedded (and the implications thereof for their knowledge) by focusing on the rich detail that can appear from a focus on one personage. We chose Jack since he exhibited a sure pattern we wished to discover further. In general, fishery strategies for woman in Newfoundland were directed until lately towards industrialization, 'professionalization,' and an more and more technical approach to management (Sinclair, 1987; Wright, 2001). To a few degrees, Jack is one of those who most modified to this hegemonic philosophy, and is consequently an interesting case. Additionally, as noted, he and others like him have been in commission in a background of quick and considerate ecological modifying. The pattern of change over Jack's career, in our view, has implications not only for our understanding of the expansion of LEK, but also for the relationship flanked by LEK and science and woman management, and for the growth of management and management procedures. Women plays vital role in the wake of cod stock collapses; numerous have begun to question the legality of stock appraisal science and the quota management approaches it is planned to support. In part to retain their authority, the Canadian government has begun to signal a transfer towards (re)counting fishers and their information in management, though it is fundamentally unclear how this will play out in practice (Murray et al., forthcoming). We agree that good management for fish harvesters and their LEK can and ought to play a more important role in technical research and in
